Good News!

Some weeks ago I sat an exam. The questions were ridiculously difficult and I came away feeling quite disheartened. However, yesterday I got a call to say that I had done quite well and I have an interview (final stage) next week. If I am successful, it would mean that my course fees for next year would be paid and I would have a job lined up for 2007 at a daily newspaper. I fly over to Blenheim next Friday for an interview with the head journalism at Massey and the editor of the paper. Praying friends please pray for me next Friday morning! The interview is at 11.30am.
Sushi and bike rides and whiskers on kittens…

It was fantastic to have a few days off work (the longest break I have had since starting this job). I spent the time doing all my favourite things. I went for a gorgeous bike ride around the bays, Wellington really is very pretty. It took about four hours but that included the discovery of a fantastic sushi bar in Courtney Place. On Saturday night a friend was up from Christchurch, so we went out to Strawberry Fare and then dancing. It was an awesome night. On Sunday Liz and I went out for dinner again (Japanese once again!) and then to the movies. Monday was our flat ‘clean-a-thon’. The flat is looking very nice, so I hope it stays that way for a while! We rewarded ourselves with a trip back to the newly discovered sushi bar and a trip to the movies to see “Little Miss Sunshine”. It wasn’t what I had expected, but Liz and Francis rated it highly.

Trip down south....

I arrived back late on Sunday after some relaxing time with the Whanau down in Dunedin. Dunedin was (somewhat ironically) unbelievably hot and three days flew by. I met up with my Dad and sister in town on Friday and Leah and I went shopping for a wee while in the afternoon. For two people who rarely agree on anything, shopping is perhaps not the most relaxing of activities, but all the same it was good to see her - it had been a very long time.

I spent Friday night with Grandma, who confirmed her status as the world's coolest Grandmother by taking me on a hilarious trip to the Waikouaiti pub during a power cut. It was just awesome to spend time with her after being away from home for nearly four months. She is the definition of everything I hope to be when I am 75. Mum came out to stay on Saturday night which was lovely and we went for a lovely walk in the evening.

Dad spared 30 minutes for me to use his office on Sunday afternoon which he claimed meant he wouldn't eat before midnight and therefore made the gesture all the more touching. On the way home I was sitting next to a woman who was scared of flying, and another lady who willingly gave her some additional reasons why she should be, a bumpy flight compounded the fun to be had between Christchurch and Wellington. My awesome blog reading, comment posting, dedicated Liz was at the airport to pick me up at 10.30pm which was really very nice of her as she had to get up early the next day.

I am on holiday from Friday - Tuesday (yay) so will post more then. Also have some pics from my time at home which I will put up when I find my memory card!

Boring weekend...

This weekend was boring with a capital B. Liz was away celebrating fish in Kaikoura and I barely saw Francis on Saturday except briefly in the morning when he muttered something about our power company being on crack because we had paid our bill. I spent most of the day in bed with a sore throat and swollen glands stressing out about work. Liz got back on Sunday morning, and we analysed her theory about being 'anti-men', which provided some amusement. I went to A7 at church in the evening and a samoan dance group were performing which was very beautiful. Liz and I have a game of tennis planned for this evening but it doesn't look like we're going to get to play as the sky is pretty grey. We joined the tennis club some weeks ago with several objectives in mind, not least of which included adding nice, sporty tennis-type guys to our social circle. So far the highlight has been meeting "Speedy" aptly named because of his recent hip replacement surgery. I think we may have a slightly different demographic at the club!

Feel good photo...

This is Anna and I standing beside the a model of the World's fattest man. It's a reminder that no matter how the current diet is going, things could always be worse!

Dad's diligence.

Dad comes to visit for a few hours....

Dad "Hurry up, drive faster I'm going to be late for my meeting".
Lucy: "I am going as fast as I can Dad".
Dad: "This really dodgy driving you know Lucy".
Lucy: "Um Dad, who lost their liscense".
Dad: "It's just that I have important things to discuss and important documents to sign".
Lucy: "Well we're here now, I'll just come in quickly to the bar with you to use the bathroom".
Dad: "Ahhh, why don't you just wait until home?"
Lucy and Dad entire bar. Important business meeting consists of beer and rugby! Evidenced above.

Made me chuckle...

A labrador walked into a post shop and said to the sales clerk "I would like to send a telegram to my old friend Jack". "What would you like to say?" said the clerk. "Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof" said the dog. "For the same price you can add two extra woofs." said the clerk. "That would be ridiculous." replied the labrador.

Okay, in my defense I am trying to think of something to write down each day!

Why did it take me so long to figure this out!

For the last few months, I have been living with my two fantastic flatmates, Liz and Francis in a dear little wooden villa. This is our house. Isn't it cute?

How fun, I worked out how to post photos!

New Leaf

Welcome to my new blog. As you may know, I already have a blog that I never update, so I find the fact that you checked this one out quite impressive. What is going to make this one different? Regular updates! What makes me think that I will post on this site when I didn't on my other one, that I asked my entire address book to check out? My new leaf. From now on I will be writing, in manner of person who is about to study journalism despite the fact that I have very little of interest to write about at the moment. Similarly, I will be exercising five times a week, not eating carbs after 6pm and giving serious thought to the Bird Flu. As you may have noticed, the title of this page is inkeeping with the generally silly nature of this post? "Where is Lucy?"At the moment, 99% of the time I am in Wellington. I must still be in O.E mode.
